Statement of Faith
At New Gate Church, we are a Spirit-filled, Full Gospel church committed to proclaiming the whole counsel of God’s Word and helping people grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe:
1. The Bible
We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the final authority for faith, doctrine, and Christian living.
Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21
2. The One True God
We believe there is one eternal God who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, co-eternal, and one in essence.
Scripture: Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
3. Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return again in glory.
Scripture: John 1:1-14; Isaiah 7:14; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
4. Salvation
We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace received through faith in Jesus Christ. Through repentance and faith, individuals are forgiven of their sins, regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and adopted into God’s family.
Scripture: Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10; John 3:3-7
5. Water Baptism
We believe water baptism by immersion is an outward expression of an inward transformation and is commanded for all believers following salvation.
Scripture: Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3-4
6. Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit as an experience subsequent to salvation that empowers believers for Christian living, service, and witness. We believe speaking in tongues is a biblical expression associated with this experience.
Scripture: Acts 1:8; Acts 2:1-4; Acts 10:44-46
7. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit described in the New Testament are active and available today for the edification of the Church and the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Romans 12:6-8
8. Divine Healing
We believe that healing for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people was provided through the atoning work of Jesus Christ and remains available today through faith and prayer.
Scripture: Isaiah 53:4-5; James 5:14-16; Matthew 8:16-17
9. Sanctification and Holy Living
We believe believers are called to live holy and godly lives through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. Spiritual growth is a lifelong process of becoming more like Christ.
Scripture: Romans 12:1-2; Galatians 5:22-23; 1 Peter 1:15-16
10. The Church
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, consisting of all believers united through faith in Jesus Christ. The Church exists to worship God, make disciples, serve others, and proclaim the Gospel to the world.
Scripture: Ephesians 4:11-16; Matthew 28:18-20
11. Communion
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a sacred ordinance instituted by Jesus Christ. Through communion, believers remember Christ’s sacrifice and proclaim His death until He returns.
Scripture: Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
12. The Great Commission
We believe every believer is called to share the Gospel, make disciples, and demonstrate God’s love through service and outreach both locally and globally.
Scripture: Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8
13. The Return of Christ
We believe Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return to earth. His return is the blessed hope of the Church and motivates believers to live faithfully and expectantly.
Scripture: Acts 1:11; Titus 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
14. Resurrection and Eternal Judgment
We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost. Those who have trusted in Christ will enjoy eternal life with God, while those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God.
Scripture: John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:11-15
15. Marriage, Family, and Human Dignity
We believe God created every person in His image and worthy of dignity, honor, and love. We believe marriage is a covenant established by God between one man and one woman and serves as a reflection of Christ’s relationship with His Church. We are committed to strengthening families and demonstrating the love and truth of Christ to all people.
Scripture: Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:31-32
